About A.Prof Ajita Kanthan
A/Prof Ajita Kanthan (MBBS BMedSc PhD FRACP FCSANZ) is an internationally recognised consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist based in Sydney. He is a pioneer in radiation-free procedural techniques, having performed the first radiation-free transvenous pacemaker implant in Australia.
He also performed the first radiation-free cardiac ablations for both supraventricular and ventricular rhythm disorders in Sydney, representing a significant advancement in patient and staff safety. Traditional transvenous procedures can expose patients to radiation levels equivalent to around 500 chest X-rays. By eliminating the use of X-rays, A/Prof’s Kanthan’s innovative approach reduces radiation risks.
A/Prof Kanthan is a national and international trainer in cardiac pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, cardiac electrophysiology studies and ablations, and radiation-free procedural techniques. He’s committed to advancing cardiac care through safer, more precise and innovative treatment methods.
