About Dr Deepa Gopinath

Dr Deepa Gopinath is an experienced clinician in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with more than 20 years of specialist experience. She has been a consultant since 2014 and is the clinical lead in Urogynaecology at Nepean Hospital in Western Sydney.

Dr Gopinath completed her MBBS and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Calicut University in India in 2003 before moving to Manchester, where she obtained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in 2006. She undertook research at the University of Manchester and was awarded an MPhil in 2013, with her research winning first prize at the British Annual Scientific Urogynaecology Meeting in London in 2011.

She completed subspecialty training in Urogynaecology through the Jessop Wing, Sheffield, and earned her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2014. She then worked as a consultant and urogynaecology lead at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust for nearly three years before relocating to Australia in 2017.

In Australia, Dr Gopinath was awarded FRANZCOG by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and FRCOG in 2017. She also completed the Certificate of Urogynaecology examination in 2018 and undertook a further 12-month fellowship in Urogynaecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.

She provides comprehensive care for women with pelvic floor disorders, including recurrent prolapse, urinary and faecal incontinence, peri- and postpartum pelvic floor injuries such as levator avulsion and obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS), and complications related to vaginal mesh. She performs vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic and open surgery, as well as endoscopic vaginal procedures and vaginal mesh removal.

Additional diagnostic capabilities include urodynamics, endoanal and translabial ultrasound, and anorectal manometry.

At Complete Health Australia, Dr Gopinath consults private patients and maintains additional appointments at Women’s Health Road, with operating lists at Campbelltown Private Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital.
