About Dr Katherine Zhu

Dr Katherine Zhu is an experienced colorectal and general surgeon who treats the full spectrum of colorectal disease, including colorectal cancer, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and anorectal disorders such as haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, anal fissures and anal fistulae.

She performs endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), major colorectal surgery, hernia repair and gallbladder surgery, offering both minimally invasive and open approaches.

Dr Zhu graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales and completed her General Surgical Training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015.

She is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand (CSSANZ) and completed post-fellowship subspecialist training in colorectal surgery at Wollongong Hospital, The Alfred Hospital Melbourne and Concord General & Repatriation Hospital.

Academically, Dr Zhu holds a Master of Surgery in Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney, undertaken in association with the Institute of Academic Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She has multiple scientific publications, serves as a reviewer for the Australia & New Zealand Journal of Surgery, and is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons trainee selection panel.
