About Dr Manjunath Subramanya
Dr Manju is an experienced Upper GI, Bariatric and General Surgeon with expertise across cancer, benign upper gastrointestinal conditions and metabolic (weight-loss) surgery. His practice spans the full spectrum of oesophago-gastric surgery, bariatric surgery and general surgical procedures, supported by an integrated multidisciplinary team including dietitians and exercise physiologists.
He completed specialist surgical training in both Australia and the UK, including subspecialty training in Oesophago-gastric and metabolic surgery through AANZGOSA (National Upper GI training board). This included placements in Perth and at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, the largest public bariatric unit in Australia. He then undertook a senior fellowship in upper GI cancer and complex hiatal surgery at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Birmingham, a major high-volume centre in Europe.
Dr Manju is actively engaged in clinical research and surgical education. He is an instructor for Royal Australasian College of Surgeons education programs, a senior conjoint lecturer at multiple universities, a board director at AANZGOSA (Australian & Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric & Oesophageal Surgery Association) and SUGSS (Sydney Upper GI Surgical Society), and a faculty member for the Master of Surgical Education program at the University of Melbourne.
He is known for his clear communication and patient-centred approach, Dr Subramanya is committed to delivering evidence-based, personalised and meticulous surgical care.
