Dr Nilakshi Weerasinghe

Dr Nilakshi Weerasinghe is a Geriatrician with extensive experience in the assessment and management of older adults. She provides evidence-based, compassionate care with a focus on dementia, delirium, frailty, falls prevention, peri-operative optimisation review of complex medical conditions and medication optimisation. Dr Nilakshi (Nila) Weerasinghe is a Geriatrician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with more than twelve years of postgraduate clinical experience in Australia. She completed her MBBS with Honours and Distinctions in Sri Lanka before undertaking physician training and advanced training in Geriatric Medicine in Sydney. She also completed a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology at Sydney University. 

She has worked across major Sydney hospitals, including Westmead Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Concord Hospital, Blacktown Hospital, Bankstown Hospital, Hornsby Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital. Her clinical experience  encompasses acute geriatrics, geriatric rehabilitation, orthogeriatric and peri-operative medicine  and complex chronic disease management.

Dr Weerasinghe is  a Conjoint Clinical Lecturer appointment at the University of New South Wales. She has contributed to national and international research in healthy ageing and cognitive impairment and published in high impact journals.

She brings a personalised,  comprehensive and compassionate approach to care, working closely with general practitioners to ensure continuity  of high-quality  care for the patients.
