About Dr David Chandrakumar
Dr David Chandrakumar (BMed (Dist.) MD (Dist) FRACP) is a consultant cardiologist with experience across all aspects of general cardiology. He graduated from the University of New South Wales with a master’s equivalent qualification in medicine, receiving distinction in both subsets of his degree and being awarded the Ian Webster Medal for academic excellence.
He completed his internship and residency at Westmead Hospital, followed by basic physician training at Nepean Hospital. Dr Chandrakumar went on to complete specialist cardiology training at Blacktown Hospital.
Dr Chandrakumar has particular expertise in non-invasive imaging, including echocardiography and CT coronary angiography, as well as in the diagnosis and management of heart failure. He has a growing subspecialty interest in the treatment of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.
He has been actively involved in research since medical school, with presentations delivered at Cardiology and Sports Medicine conferences across Australia, North America and Europe. He holds admitting rights at Norwest Private Hospital.
