Dr Pram Sirimanna

Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, Upper GI and General Surgeon

Dr. Pram Sirimanna is an Australian-trained specialist hepatobiliary, pancreatic, upper gastrointestinal and general surgeon practising at Concord Repatriation General Hospital.

About Dr Pram Sirimanna

Originally from the United Kingdom, he completed his medical degree and Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours at Imperial College London. He subsequently moved to Australia as a junior doctor and completed a PhD at the University of Sydney, focusing on the development of novel approaches to surgical training and assessment.

Dr. Pram undertook specialist training in General Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2021. He then completed four years of advanced subspecialty fellowship training in hepatobiliary, pancreatic, upper gastrointestinal and liver transplantation surgery, including completing the Australian & Aotearoa New Zealand, Hepatic, Pancreatic & Biliary Association (AANZHPBA) Fellowship Training Program.

During these four years, he trained at the highest volume hepatobililary, pancreatic and liver transplant surgery centres in the country including Royal North Shore Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital. This combined hepatobiliary/pancreatic and transplant surgery training provided extensive experience in advanced pancreatic and liver resections, including operations that may require resection and reconstruction of major blood vessels. He also gained training in minimally invasive and robotic techniques for hepatobiliary and pancreatic procedures.

Following completion of his fellowship training, Dr. Pram was appointed as a consultant hepatobiliary, pancreatic and liver transplant surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Dr. Pram has a strong interest in research and education, particularly in surgical training, patient safety and improving outcomes in surgery. He has authored book chapters and peer-reviewed publications in international journals, presented nationally and internationally, and been awarded competitive prizes, scholarships and research grants. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney.

After working as a consultant in Queensland, he and his family returned to Sydney, so their son could grow up close to extended family. Family life remains central to his values and strongly influences his commitment to supporting patients and their families through challenging diagnoses.
