Dr Perera graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medical Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in December 2010. After internship and residency, he commenced training in cardiothoracic surgery and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in January 2021.
He spent his training and fellowship years at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, the Austin Hospital in Melbourne and University Hospital Southampton in the UK where he was trained in all aspects of Adult Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery.
Dr Perera is currently appointed at Westmead Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital where he treats his patients with a focus on safety and excellent clinical outcomes.
Dr Perera has specific interest in:
- Major Aortic Surgery
- Minimal access lung surgery
- Pacemaker and defibrillator insertion
- Diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy
