Dr Sulak Anandabaskaran

Biography

Dr Sulak Anandabaskaran is a specialist committed to providing patients with personable and compassionate care in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

His clinical practice encompasses all aspects of gastroenterology and liver disease. He has a special interest in bowel cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease) and irritable bowel syndrome.  Sulak is accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) and can provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Sulak grew up in New Zealand and completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Auckland. Subsequently, he moved to Sydney and underwent his Gastroenterology training at St Vincent’s Hospital and Liverpool Hospital.

He then went to London and completed a two-year clinical and research fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at St Mark’s Specialist Bowel Hospital. St Mark’s Hospital is one of only 20 hospitals worldwide to be recognised as a centre of excellence by the World Organisation of Digestive Endoscopy.

Sulak is currently completing his PhD at the University of New South Wales where he is focusing on improving treatments for Perianal Crohn’s Disease. For his PhD research work so far, he has received the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) Fellowship Award, Avant Doctor-In-Training Scholarship Grant, and The British Research Council Grant.
