Dr Rajith Mendis is a Head & Neck Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist with extensive subspecialty training in a range of head and neck, and endocrine conditions as well as reconstruction. After obtaining his MBBS from UNSW he undertook general surgery training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2019. In 2020-2021 he undertook training as the Head and Neck and Surgical Oncology fellow at Westmead hospital, and he then completed further fellowship training in Head and Neck and microvascular reconstruction at Wollongong hospital in 2022 and Chris O'Brien Lifehouse hospital in 2023. During this time he was trained in the management of a range of thyroid and parathyroid conditions, salivary gland conditions, oral cavity malignancy and advanced skin cancers including melanoma as well as soft tissue tumours including sarcoma.
He has a public appointment at Westmead hospital where he actively participates in the Head and Neck MDT, Melanoma MDT and Sarcoma MDT and is a member of General Surgeons Australia (GSA), Australia and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons (ANZES) and Australia and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society (ANZHNCS). He has published widely in peer reviewed journals, authored book chapters and is actively involved in training, education and research. Dr Mendis consults from our Rouse Hill clinic.
